Privacy Policy & POPIA Notice

This notice explains how Tenchie Travel ("we", "us") processes personal information in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Information we collect

• Account details — name, email address and password credentials.
• Traveller details — names, dates of birth, nationality, passport and visa data where a booking requires it.
• Booking data — itineraries, supplier references, preferences and correspondence.
• Payment data — processed by our payment provider. We never store full card numbers.
• Technical data — device, browser and usage information needed to operate and secure the platform.

2. Why we process it

• To search availability, make and manage your bookings with airlines, hotels and other suppliers.
• To issue tickets, vouchers, invoices and travel documents.
• To provide customer support, refunds and disruption assistance.
• To meet legal, tax and anti-fraud obligations.
• To send marketing only where you have opted in — you can withdraw at any time.

3. Sharing with third parties

Fulfilling a booking requires sending relevant traveller details to the supplier (for example the airline or hotel) and to our payment processor. We share only what the booking requires. Some suppliers are outside South Africa; where that is the case the transfer is necessary for the performance of your booking contract.

4. Retention

Booking and financial records are retained for the period required by South African tax and consumer legislation. Account data is retained while your account is active.

5. Security

The platform uses encrypted transport (HTTPS), role-based access control and row-level database security so that customers can only access their own records. Payment card data is handled entirely by our PCI-compliant payment provider.

6. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. Send requests to tumelom@tenchie-travel.co.za.

7. Cookies

We use cookies and local storage that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in, remember your currency and hold your trip basket. We do not sell personal information.
